We are currently at 56% participation on our strike pledge. That’s strong, but we need to keep pushing.
The strike pledge is a show of solidarity and readiness. It tells the employer that education workers are united and prepared to take action if necessary to secure a fair deal.
It is not a vote to strike.
It does not mean a strike is happening tomorrow.
It does not commit you to anything beyond standing together with your coworkers.
What it does do is build the collective strength we need at the bargaining table.
If you haven’t signed yet, now is the time.
The stronger we are together, the stronger our outcome will be.
What just happened to our sisters and brothers in CUPE 3155 makes this even more real. Nearly 100 education workers were told they are losing their jobs, just like that. That is exactly why we cannot afford to be disconnected or unprepared.
That’s why we are strengthening our outreach across all schools.
We are asking members to help connect us with Supply EAs and any non-union or casual staff. If you know someone, please share their contact information with us or have them reach out directly to outreach@cupe1328.ca so we can keep them informed and connected.
This is about building power. Connected workers are protected workers.
Good afternoon, 1328 Brothers, Sisters, and Friends
I want to speak directly to you about what our sisters and brothers in CUPE 3155 are facing. These nearly 100 CUPE brothers and sisters are the international language instructors working side by side with us in our school.
Yesterday, they were told they will be losing their jobs this September.
Let that sink in.
These are education workers just like you. People who show up every day, support students, and hold our schools together. Now they are being told they are no longer needed.
This is difficult to hear, and it should be.
Because this is not just about CUPE 3155, it is about all of us.
When education workers are cut, it impacts the entire system. Students lose support, workloads increase, and it sends a clear message about how our work is valued.
We need to pay attention.
We need to stand together.
And we need to be ready.
Right now, solidarity matters. If you know members in 3155, reach out. Let them know they are not alone.
At the same time, this is exactly why our work right now is so important. Organizing, building strength in our worksites, and showing up for each other is how we protect our jobs and our future.
We will keep you informed, and we will continue to stand with CUPE 3155.
It is even more important now that we stand together and sign the strike pledge.
Please reach out to protectourschools@cupe.ca to sign.
This moment matters; what we do next matters.
Stand together. Support one another. Be ready.
Yours In Solidarity,
Sharron Flynn
